30 years of entrepreneurship based on teamwork, communication and sustainable growth

For three decades, Udo Foerster has built his entrepreneurial journey around a simple but powerful belief: lasting success is not created by individuals working alone, but by strong teams united by a common goal.

As founder and CEO of Advanteam, a strategic communications and business consulting firm, Foerster has spent the last 30 years helping mid-sized companies become more visible, more successful and better prepared for the future. His approach combines strategic communications, practical business advice and a deep understanding of the unique challenges facing the Mittelstand, the backbone of the German economy.

“A business is only as strong as the team behind it,” says Foerster. “This is exactly why I chose the name Advanteam. True advantage comes from true teamwork. Long-term success is achieved when people work together toward a common goal.”

A team-oriented approach to business

At the heart of Foerster’s philosophy is the belief that sustainable growth is based on trust, clear communication and shared goals.

After studying at RWTH Aachen University and experience in the media industry, including working for large organizations such as RTL, Foerster took up entrepreneurship in 1996. A few years later, in 1999, he founded Advanteam in Aachen, Germany.

Those early years in media shaped his approach to business to this day. He saw first-hand how a clear message could make a business grow, and how a confusing message could hold it back. This lesson has become the foundation of everything Advanteam does. For him, communication has never been a priority. That was the starting point.

Today, Advanteam is headquartered in Nieder-Olm near Mainz and advises companies in the areas of public relations, strategic communication, digital transformation and market positioning. In all of its work, people remain at the center of the company’s strategy, whether they are employees, customers, partners or stakeholders.

Built for the Mittelstand

Much of Foerster’s work focuses on Germany’s mid-sized companies, the family-owned and owner-run businesses that drive a significant portion of the country’s economy. These companies often do great work but struggle to tell their own story. They are strong in substance and quieter in terms of visibility.

It is in this gap that Advanteam intervenes. Foerster helps these businesses find their voice, refine their positioning, and connect with the audiences that matter most to them. He understands the pressures they face, from generational change to digital change to increasing competition, because he has spent his career inside that world rather than observing it from the outside.

“Mid-sized companies are full of expertise and ambition,” says Foerster. “What they sometimes lack is the time and structure to communicate it. Our job is to help them be seen for who they really are.”

Entrepreneur and advisor

Foerster’s credibility extends beyond consulting. He is also an active entrepreneur with operational leadership experience.

As a shareholder of the Mein SANIHAUS group of companies, he is involved in the health and rehabilitation technology sectors and brings a concrete entrepreneurial vision to his consulting work. This combination of strategic expertise and practical business experience allows him to guide organizations through growth opportunities and complex challenges.

This dual role is important. When Foerster advises a client, he doesn’t speak solely as a consultant. He speaks like someone who has paid his salary, made tough decisions, and carried the weight of real business decisions. Customers notice the difference. Advice based on lived experience tends to be more difficult to obtain than advice drawn from theory alone.

The power of relationships

In 30 years of experience, Foerster has learned that significant success rarely happens in isolation.

Rather than focusing on short-term solutions, Advanteam emphasizes long-term partnerships with customers, investors, media organizations and other entrepreneurs. The company’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that relationships of trust create stronger companiesgreater resilience and more sustainable growth.

Some of these relationships last almost as long as the business itself. Customers who arrived early at Advanteam stayed for years and many became collaborators and friends. For Foerster, this loyalty is the clearest measure of the success of his approach. People don’t stay where they are not well served.

He also believes that strong relationships create a sort of safety net during difficult times. When markets change or a crisis strikes, companies with deep, honest partnerships tend to recover more quickly. They have people to call and people who will answer.

In an increasingly complex and rapidly changing business environment, Foerster’s message remains remarkably consistent: communication, trust and teamwork are not soft skills; they are strategic advantages.

After three decades of entrepreneurship, this principle continues to shape his leadership and the success of the organizations he serves. And if the next 30 years are anything like the last, Foerster intends to continue to prove that the strongest companies are those that are built together.
