Online Test Scoring Jobs
1 – Scoring Student Essays for WriteScore
You may have already heard of this one, as it is one of the most popular companies we have listed. Although the company has a website for potential clients to sign up, it has recently been directing potential workers to a waiting list.
As an independent contractor, they pay you to grade essays written by elementary, middle, and high school students. Salary varies depending on how quickly you move up in your workload.
A major downside is that you don’t get paid for your training time and it is intense.
The only IT/education requirements are a validated email account, a 2-year degree, and a high-speed internet connection on your PC or laptop.
Go here to view our full, detailed WriteScore review, or here to apply and add your name to their waiting list.
2 – Scoring test results for ETS
ETS hires part-time employees to obtain test scores from various online and offline educational institutions, including SAT scores.
Each grading opportunity has its own requirements and you must commit to a specific timeline.
Pay is twice a week and varies depending on the project, but it depends on how many hours you can get. Even though you have to commit to a timeline, you have a little more freedom to decide when it will take place.
Some grading tasks require a minimum of 4 hours. Training can last up to two weeks before you earn your final certification, and you can start working immediately after training if there are projects available.
The training would be difficult and many potential graders have to retake the final tests, so you might really want to slow down during the tests.
ETS gives you two attempts and you get paid for both attempts. You do NOT need to live in the United States to apply.

At Pearson, you are a part-time employee (benefits included) and you are required to work at least 20 hours per week.
Although IT requirements are relaxed, you must have at least a bachelor’s degree in any field and be a U.S. citizen. Sorry, no hiring outside the US.
We have written more about Pearson here if you want to know more. You can also submit your application via this link.

Since there are no ads, they charge a membership fee, as that is the only way they will see a return on their job search efforts.
But it’s cheap — you can access it for a few weeks for just $2.95 for a full 14 days!
If you sign up and don’t like it, it’s very easy to cancel immediately so you don’t get charged again. You can do this at any time during your 14 day verification period.
