Working for Elevate K-12
As a teacher for Elevate, you will work remotely hosting live sessions for K-12 students. The students you teach will all be together in a physical classroom, so it is not one-on-one teaching.
You will be broadcast live to them on a screen at the front of the room while you teach.
There will be a “class assistant” physically in the room with them to help them with their work. But you won’t be physically there. You can work from any location where you have a quiet environment.
Elevate K-12 recruits teachers in different subjects at different times.
How much does Elevate K-12 pay?
The amount you earn as a teacher for Elevate K-12 varies depending on the subject you teach, your certification, and the assignment. Current job postings typically advertise pay ranging from about $22 per hour to $42 or more per hour, with some specialty positions paying higher rates.
You are also paid separately for preparation and administration time outside of your live teaching sessions.
Each teaching job description lists the rate you will earn per hour.
Note that these are independent contractor positions, so no taxes will be taken from your pay and there are no benefits.
Are you qualified?
To teach for Elevate K-12, you must be a state-certified teacher based in the United States with an active (unexpired) teaching certificate.
Many openings also require a bachelor’s degree, certification in the field you will teach, and previous classroom teaching experience, especially for middle and high school positions.
The calendar
Elevate K-12 deals only part-time hours. They say most of their teachers work about 20 hours per week, although hours can vary depending on the assignment.
You must have an available daily time slot of at least three consecutive hours, Monday through Friday, during school hours.
Most assignments follow the traditional school calendar from August to May. Summer teaching opportunities are generally not available, although teachers may have access to professional development during the summer months.
Technical requirements
There is not a long list of extensive requirements. All you need to work as an online teacher for Elevate is a desktop or laptop computer with a reliable internet connection and a quiet environment.

Teachers often tout flexibility, the ability to work from home, and the ability to teach without moving. Many also appreciate that much of the lesson planning is provided to them.
Some negative reviews mention inconsistent schedules, changing assignments, observation requirements, and the fact that these are part-time contractor positions with no benefits. As with any company, it’s a good idea to read the most recent employee reviews before applying.
