One of the most common requests I receive from readers is for remote jobs with higher pay. And these days, I totally get it. With the rising prices of groceries and gas, many people are having to work two jobs just to make ends meet! It seems like life gets more and more expensive every year.
If you need remote work but need at least $18 an hour for the work you do, read on. I looked through recent job leads for work from home (these can be found here) to limit it to companies that pay the same or more.
Remember that requirements and skills vary from company to company. Not all of them are entry-level. If you are JUST looking for an entry-level job, you can see some options for this here.
Still, I encourage you to apply for anything you think you’re suited for, even if you don’t check every box the company lists. I have repeatedly seen companies make exceptions and hire people even if they are not fully qualified on paper, simply because they think that person would be a great fit for the position.

Ensure – Read Overview of remote belaying work – Virtual executive assistant. All states EXCEPT California, Montana, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. This is a 1099 contractor role. You will be work at home, carrying out administrative tasks for BELAY clients. Previous administrative experience required. Pay is $18 to $21 per hour. We are also looking for remote Social Media Managers, Accounting Clerks and Bookkeepers.
Credible – Insurance Services Specialist I. Credible is an online marketplace that helps consumers compare prequalified rates for loans and insurance. This full-time remote role supports Credible’s Insurance Services team by handling customer inquiries via email and phone, monitoring policy activity, processing cancellations and renewals, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with sales agents on policy matters. Requires 1-3 years of insurance experience (preferably home and auto), strong attention to detail and comfort working in a fast-paced environment. Open to applicants residing in AZ, CT, NJ or NY. Salary ranges from $20 to $30 per hour, with eligibility for bonuses and benefits.
Back Office Betties – Virtual legal assistant. TX, FL, NV, AZ or PA. You will provide premier support to law firms across the United States and Canada. You must be familiar with legal terminology, procedures and documentation. They also look for people with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience. Contract position paid between $20 and $24 per hour.
Stellar Bookkeepers – Accountant (remote). Part-time, fully remote bookkeeping role supporting galleries, art advisors and artists. Manages transaction cleanup, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, payroll through Gusto, sales and use tax filings, and financial statement adjustments in coordination with an account manager. Requires 1+ years of accounting experience, strong communication skills, and reliable computer and internet setup. Training is provided, with opportunities for growth in a growing women-owned business. The schedule is 20 to 30 hours per week. Pay ranges from $20 to $30 per hour depending on experience.
Support strategies – Remote accountant. UNITED STATES. Part-time, 25-30 hours per week, Monday through Friday during standard business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. depending on your time zone). You will manage bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, monthly book closings and financial reporting for several small business clients. Pays between $30.00 and $35.00 per hour. Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business, 5+ years of full accounting experience, and at least 1 year using QuickBooks or NetSuite.
TutorUp – WE. All TutorUp tutors must be certified teachers in the United States. On a case-by-case basis, they also accept experienced teachers whose certification has expired or who have retired. Experienced university professors (not teaching assistants) are exempt from the certification requirement and are welcome to apply. Can earn an average of $30/hour.
WebFX – Remote Copy/Content Editor. WE. Full time, contract. You will edit a variety of content types, including blogs and sales copy, across multiple industries while ensuring high standards of quality and clarity. Must have a bachelor’s degree in English, communications or a related field, a cumulative GPA above 3.4, and exceptional writing and editing skills. Salary starts at $18 to $21 per hour, with potential performance bonuses of up to $1,000 per year, a monthly stipend of over $200, and an annual travel allowance of $1,200.
Reading boo – Online educator (part-time, distance learning, Canada). Providing 1:1 online literacy tutoring to students in grades K-6 using a reading science curriculum and innovative technology. Serve students primarily during school hours through district partnerships. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education (or equivalent), 2+ years of K-6 teaching experience, strong phonics and decoding skills, and a reliable technology setup (laptop, internet, quiet workspace). Vesta – Mortgage underwriting specialist (remote). Full-time remote position supporting the development and testing of next-generation mortgage software. Works closely with Product, Engineering, Integration, and Implementation teams to document test cases, map data across platforms, configure and test integrations, and help design loan fulfillment workflows. Requires 5+ years of mortgage underwriting experience across multiple loan types (conventional, FHA, VA, non-QM) and strong attention to detail, with technical curiosity and a willingness to learn tools such as APIs and MISMO standards. The salary range is $100,000 to $135,000 per year, plus benefits.
