As a home phone triage nurse, you will take patient calls, assess their various symptoms, and then help steer them in the right direction when it comes to medical care.
The pay for this type of work is competitive. According to ZipRecruiterremote telephone triage nurses earn on average about $38 per hour, with the highest earners making $45 or more. That said, this job can be stressful, especially during cold and flu season.

1 – UnitedHealth / Optum Group
UnitedHealth Group and its subsidiary Optum are among the nation’s largest and most consistent employers of remote nurses. They regularly post telephone triage, telephone case management, and utilization review roles in many US states.
Requirements vary by role but typically include an active registered nursing license, clinical experience, and in many cases a bachelor’s degree.
Pay typically starts around $28 per hour and increases significantly with experience and specialty. Benefits are comprehensive and include medical, dental, vision and 401k.

Medcor operates a 24/7 remote occupational health triage call center and hires full-time registered nurses to staff it. Their nurses handle incoming calls from client company employees who have suffered workplace injuries, assess symptoms and guide them through next steps.
Shifts run between noon and 2 a.m. CST, and the role requires the ability to type and navigate multiple software applications simultaneously while on the phone.
Pay starts at $28 per hour with additional differential pay available for evenings, nights and weekends.

Where else to look for remote triage nurse jobs
Beyond the companies listed above, there are a few other places worth checking regularly:
Flexible jobs is one of the best job sites for remote nursing work. Every ad is verified by a human before being published, which means you won’t waste time sorting through scams or ads that aren’t actually remote.
They regularly feature openings at Cigna, UnitedHealth Group, and telehealth companies of all sizes.
