Google has started rolling out the March core update, according to the Google Search Health Dashboard.
Deployment began at 2:00 AM PT and the release note was released at 2:14 AM PT. Google said the rollout could take up to two weeks.

THE Research Status Dashboard lists the update as a ranking incident, with the following description:
“March 2026 core update released. Deployment may take up to 2 weeks.”
Google has not published a follow-up blog post or announced specific goals for this update.
Major updates involve broad changes to Google’s ranking systems. They do not target specific types of content or violations. Google major update documentation describes them as changes designed to ensure that Google provides useful and reliable results.
Context
This is the first general core update of 2026.
The February 2026 update, which ran from February 5 to February 27, was limited exclusively to Discover and did not affect search rankings. This was the first time Google publicly called a Discover-only core update.
The most recent general update was the December 2025 Core Updatewhich took place from December 11 to 29 and lasted 18 days.
The March 2026 core update also arrives two days after Google completed the update. March 2026 Anti-Spam Updatewhich took place and ended in less than 20 hours on March 24 and 25. This is the shortest confirmed spam update in Google Dashboard history.

Why it matters
The estimated two-week rollout means ranking changes could appear on all sites in early April. Google recommends waiting at least a full week after a major update completes before analyzing performance in Search Console.
If you see any changes in rankings or traffic over the next couple of weeks, this update is likely a factor. Compare performance against a baseline period before deployment begins on March 27.
A drop in ranking after a major update does not indicate a policy violation. Major updates reevaluate the quality of content on the web, and some pages move up while others move down.
Looking to the future
Google will update the Search Status Dashboard once the rollout is complete. Based on recent core updates, completion typically takes two to three weeks, although the December 2025 update completed in 18 days.
